Being Born is Hard to Do!

My grandparents, the first time Mommy got to hold me.
Happy tears!
Me and Dr. Thompson. I sorry his team lost yesterday!
Me in my hood.

I'm here, but I took the long way home! Me and Mommy had a rough night Thursday (after a long day!)

Mommy had to push for almost two hours and by the time I got myself out (with lots of help from Doc T), I just wasn't up for much crying and fussing. I just wanted to lay there and be purple. Nobody liked that, so after just a minute with my Mom, they whisked me away to the hood...the oxygen hood, that is. They kept me there allll night...I even had my first x-ray so the doctor could look at my lungs because they were juicy. But now I'm good! Mommy and Daddy got to hold me the next morning and I got to go to the room that afternoon! We stayed one more night and then came home yesterday!

I'm still learning how and when to eat, so we were up a lot last night...and Mommy has been a bit of a Nervous Nellie since we got home. Oh, by the way, my Daddy is a baby PRO! Who knew?

The nursery folks at the hospital still don't want many people to hold me, but maybe soon! I look forward to cuddling with you!

She is sooooo precious guys! You did a great job!!! It may take several days to get that eating down, but she will realize that food is yummy! We waited at least 6 wks before anyone (friends) held Jonas. I recommend it. And make everyone wash their hands!!!!!! No germs on Riley! Love, Casey

I am so excited!!! I have been awaiting pictures. I think she looks like mom - but I thought that from the ultrasound pictures way back when! If I had one thing to do over, I wouldn't have been so nervous...but, I am not sure how you do that!! It will be okay! That mommy/eating stuff isn't all that natural at first and no one ever tells you that!!! Congratulations and hand in there!! Glad all is well! Pam

Oh Riley, how very much we love you.

We were SO very thankful when you were finally born. Nana, Papaw, Papa Joe and me were all outside your mom's door (even if we were supposed to be in the REAL waiting room).

We were so grateful to God that it wasn't too long before you changed into that beautiful pink color.

We were even more thankful when Mommy could hold you close. I still cry when I think about seeing her hold you for the first time.
Your Daddy had SUCH love in his eyes and that made me cry too.

All of your blog friends just need to know that you are a part of a blessed family. They need to take my word that you are even MORE beautiful in real life!

We also thank them for their prayers, because that is the reason everything turned out so great after our tough moments.

love, Grammy

Okay, I am so cheesy. But I have looked at these pics of Riley 10 times today. I read what Grammy wrote and tears came down my face. It brought back way too many memories of Jonas being sick too and I know that is one of the scariest feelings in the world. You feel so helpless. I am sooooo glad to see she is home in your arms. Did you ever think you could love anything so much? That love grows more & more each day. Love you guys! Casey
